Rest Easy Cowboy Nation!

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Well the big game is upon us as the New York Football Giants are heading down to “Big D” this weekend to play in the divional playoffs.

Much to the shagrin of the Giants, and relief to all the Cowboy fans, Tony Romo’s girlfriend, Jessica Simpson will not be attending the game in person, and will safely be watching from afar.

This is a huge plus for those Cowboy fans who believe in carma, bad luck, omens, black magic or anything else that can negatively sway a football game.

It certainly looks like the twelfth man, errr, I mean woman, will definately be on Dallas’ side this weekend.

Don’t get me wrong, the Giants are a strong team, who almost beat the New England Patriots a few weeks ago. The playoff game will be tough enough, but the fact that this is an inter-divisional playoff game, makes it even more of a challenge. Everybody knows that when teams from the same division play each other, it always seems like they play each other just a little bit harder, and upsets are a dime a dozen…

Dallas, Philadelphia, Washington and New York are all rivals, and already play each other twice a year, so they all know each other quite well, and they are always looking to upset the other team’s year.

So to Dallas and Tony Romo, good luck this weekend. It looks like we are off to a good start already!

Romo and Cowboys get Giants for 3rd Time This Year

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

After a sluggish ending to an illustrious season, Tony Romo and the Dallas Cowboys now know they will be playing the New York Giants for a a 3rd time this year. The Cowboys have beaten the Giants twice in the regular season, but now will be playing them for all of the marbles in a NFC divisional playoff game.

This will be no easy tasks, as the Giants have proven to be a tough competitor, and they have improved late in the season. Dallas has outscored New York to a tune of 76-55, which to me is not a real comfortable margin. As you can see, these two games have been anything but a defensive struggle.

Tony Romo comes into this game with with a very impressive resume against the Giants this season in their two outings. He has completed 66% of his passes, for a whopping 638 yards, with 8 touchdown passes, and only 2 interceptions!

Needless to say, it looks like Romo has the Giants’ number thus far this season, but being a pessimist, I think it is safe to say that anything is possible, and that both teams are coming into this game with a 0-0 record and a 0-0 starting score. The past is the past, and I hope Tony and the Cowboys don’t let the 2 wins have their guards down.

Eli manning is a hot and cold quarterback, and if he comes in hot, this will be a very tough game, but I still think Romo has the edge as a quarterback, and should be able to help take the Dallas Cowboys to the NFC Title game.

Game starts at 4:30 pm EST on Sunday January 14th on FOX.

GO COWBOYS!
