Is Romo Jinxed?
Tuesday, January 15th, 2008Well, what a way to end a 13-3 top seed season. Unfortunately, the last play of the game ends up being an interception on Tony Romo’s part, which brings back flashbacks of last season’s muffed fieldgoal attempt…
I really don’t know what happened the last few games this year. The Cowboys went from being a “Patriots Like” machine, to just an average team. It is rare that you see a team get healthier as the season goes, but yet play worse. One would think with weapons like T.O., Terry Glenn, Jason Witten and Marion Barber, that this team would be unstoppable.
I know every dog has it’s day, but other than one drive, New York was less than impressive. I would have thought that the Giants would have had to bring their best game, but that was not the case.
I think the Cowboys were complacent again, which seems to be the the theme when they play at home. The Cowboys this season were 7-1 on the road, and 6-3 at home, which is kinda weird.
Another oddity are the stats. Dallas dominated time of posession, yardage, especially rushing and first downs. Tony Romo’s stats were not super impressive, but still completed 50% of his passes, with a touchdown and one pick, which is at the end of the game.
I blame this loss on a team that was just not prepared. There were quite a few missed tackles, dropped passes, and horrible 3rd down penalties. It looks like Wade Phillips needs to go back to the basics in training camp. As ironic as the New England Patriots’ dream season continues as possibly one of the best teams ever seen, the Dallas Cowboy season, may as well go down as one of the biggest downsets ever seen. What a strange season this has been.
As disapointing as it all may be, Cowboy fans have a lot to be proud of. An overall 13-4 season is rare, and many teams have never seen, or will never see, a 13 win season.
Let’s go Cowboys, next season is right around the corner!
